The HCJP (Henry Jenkins Community Pub Ltd) are a community campaign group dedicated to enabling the community purchase of the Henry Jenkins Inn.
The owners of the site, David Fielder and his close colleague, Justin Claybourn want to demolish the pub and rebuild it as houses.
In a growing village, where anything between 50 to 100 new houses are likely to be built within the next 5 to 10 years, the view of the HJCP is that Kirkby Malzeard will need more facilities, not less, and 4 houses in the very centre of the village where a tavern has stood for very nearly 200 years, is just not acceptable. A 'new' regenerated community-owned Henry Jenkins will provide a choice for residents and visitors now and provide a legacy for future generations
Harrogate Borough Council planers have stated that no planning permission for domestic development will be given as the site is protected by the National Planning Plocy Framework and HBC's own CFX policies, which are designed to protect social facilities. 
Nevertheless, the owners continue with their planning application and appeals.
The HJCP is a Community Benefit Society, regulated by the FCA,  perfectly placed to conduct a campaign to buy and refurbish the Henry Jenkins.
