SING ALONG TO APPRECIATE NHS

28 Apr 2020

Last week we had an experimental sing along at the Ringback end of Kirkby, after clapping to show our huge appreciation for the NHS.

Due to popular demand, Nigel has agreed to do another sing along this week (weather permitting).
This week's songs are the NHS fundraisers: You'll Never Walk Alone and Is This The Way To Amarillo

Huge thanks to Nigel Robertshaw for organising and performing such lovely music to cheer us all up and particularly for going to play to the residents of Mowbray Crescent, many of whom are self isolating.

Lyrics for You'll Never Walk Alone

When you walk through a storm, Hold your head up high, And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm, There's a golden sky, And the sweet silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, With hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone, You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on, With hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone, You’ll never walk alone.

Lyrics for Is This the Way to Amarillo

Sha la la la la la la la, Sha la la la la la la la, Sha la la la la la la la

When the day is dawning, On a Texas Sunday morning
How I long to be there, With Marie who's waiting for me there
Ev'ry lonely city where I hang my hat, Ain't as half as pretty as where my baby's at

Is this the way to Amarillo? Ev'ry night I've been hugging my pillow
Dreaming dreams of Amarillo, And sweet Marie who waits for me
Show me the way to Amarillo, I've been weeping like a willow
Crying over Amarillo, And sweet Marie who waits for me

Sha la la la la la la la, Sha la la la la la la la, Sha la la la la la la la, And Marie who waits for me

There's a church bell ringing, Hear the sound of joy that it's singing
For the sweet Maria, And the guy who's coming to see her
Just beyond the highway, there's an open plain
And it keeps me going, Through the wind and rain.

Sha la la la la la la la, Sha la la la la la la la, Sha la la la la la la la, And Marie who waits for me

Sha la la la la la la la, Sha la la la la la la la, Sha la la la la la la la, And Marie who waits for me
