and to start us off:
Marvellous Things in the Garden
Recently I have noticed several Long Tailed Tits feeding in my garden.  I have a feed station towards the back, protected by the Hawthorne hedge.  They have been coming for a few weeks, and I see them nearly every day. Most of the smaller birds feed on the sunflower hearts I buy at great expense, but they seem to favour the peanuts.  The feeders are side by side, so doubt it is positioning. And they are brave. The Woodpeckers regularly peck away at the nut feeder with his wicked beak and the longtails don’t seem fazed at all. I am hoping that they will nest here so I can watch them and their growing family.  However there seem to be around n March most years, and then they seem to disappear, so I never get to see their nest or the young.  I think they resemble fluffy lollypops. They are so tiny and fragile, with such delicate colouring. One of the favourites.
