AREA COVERED BY THE 'KIRKBY MALZEARD AREA' WEBSITE.
Kirkby Malzeard is situated seven miles West of Ripon in the county of North Yorkshire, being part of Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has approximately 320 homes and is surrounded by unspoilt open countryside with farms, woodland, streams and, to the West, moorland.
The smaller village of Laverton lies 1.5 miles to the South of Kirkby Malzeard, and Dallowgill, a farming area comprising the hamlets of Dallow, Carlsmoor, Swetton and Greygarth, is approximately three miles to the West.
Whilst facilities in all villages throughout England are under economic pressure, Kirkby Malzeard continues to have a number of thriving businesses including a village shop, butchers, public house, garage, fish and chip shop and a recently opened antiques shop.
There is also a primary school and preschool, Church, Methodist Chapel, active village hall known as the Mechanics Institute, and the Highside Playing Fields, where there is a well equipped children's play area, and where various sporting activities take place, all of which combine to make it an ideal village in which to live or stay for a visit.
