The NY Local Assistance fund is there to provide support in the form of essential goods to people suffering hardship.
In addition, one-off vouchers to help with food and heating bills are available for people who don't fall into the existing support categories but who are temporarily in a fix, perhaps because of the current covid restrictions or another unexpected situation.
